Marjory Lynn Spoerri, 1937-2023

Marjory Lynn Spoerri, a longtime resident of Stanfordville, died on Nov. 11. She was 86. Spoerri was born in Warroad, Mich., the daughter of Olive and Frank Baucom. She studied art history at the University of Minnesota, and moved to New York City to work as a secretary in the medieval department and at the Cloisters at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  

She married John Spoerri and moved to Stanfordville, and worked at Dover Publications and the Carey Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Millbrook. Spoerri had a strong interest in the Antarctic, collected books and attended conferences of The Antarctican Society. She was also interested in gems and jewelry making and was a member of the Mid-Hudson Gem and Mineral Society.  

Spoerri is survived by her siblings, Frank Baucom, Beth Benisch, Frances Olsen; her children, Paul and Elizabeth Spoerri, and step children, Stefan and Johanna Spoerri. Burial service was to be held at Stanford Cemetery on Nov.20.
