
Sean F. McCarthy, of Stanfordville, died on April 5. He was 64 years old, and the cause of death was cancer.
Born Feb. 24, 1960, McCarthy graduated from FDR High School in Hyde Park in 1978 and the Albany College of Pharmacy in 1983. He was the original owner of McCarthy’s Pharmacy in Stanfordville.
In addition to his work as a pharmacist, he was active in Stanford affairs, where he served with the Stanford fire company, on the Stanford Free Library board of trustees and on the town recreation commission, where he helped start its youth soccer program.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Eileen; his children, Dan and Caitie (Tim); his siblings, Keith (Sharon) and Susan (Chris); a nephew, Seamus, and two nieces, Sinead and Sara. A brother, Kevin, died before him.
Visitation will take place at Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main Street, Pine Plains, on April 13 from 11 to 2 p.m., followed by a gathering at the Stanford Fire Company.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Stanford Fire Company, Stanford Free Library, or a charity of choice.
