Nelson C. Bowne of Pine Plains died on Oct. 21 at the Paramount Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Somers, N.Y. He was 81.
Bowne was born on Oct. 30, 1941, in Poughkeepsie, to Nelson and Emma (Sauter) Bowne. He served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1960, and worked for the Dutchess County Highway Dept. as an equipment operator, as well as for the Town of Stanford. He enjoyed fishing, picnics at Rudd Pond, and loved animals.
He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Bowne; his brother-in-law Paul Harrison and his wife, Donna Harrison; and his cousins Lynn and Rich Hoffay and Jennifer and Anthony Harrison. His wife, Doris, died in 2010.
