An attempt of outrage was made by a miscreant to a daughter of Cornelius Silvernail. She was gathering chestnuts when a half-witted tramp made an attack on her. She fought desperately and screamed loudly which seemed to scare him off, and she made her escape. An alarm was raised and a search at once commenced and a vagabond was found concealed in the woods about a mile away.
