Under a more than 2 foot snowfall, the barn roof at Rt. 83 farm rented by Francis Saunders, collapsed on 77 Holstein calves. Through efforts of Pine Plains Fire Dept., Highway Dept., Rescue Squad, Doug Weaver and other private citizens, only nine calves were lost.
