If you are attending the Evergreen Cemetery Lantern tour this weekend, or if you just like to walk through graveyards at this time of year, consider this:
In the Town of Clay, near Syracuse in Onondaga County, there is a burial ground called the Pine Plains Cemetery. The oldest headstone is from 1812. The name of the cemetery was chosen because the Palatines who settled Clay had come through an area in England where they had produced pine tar and munitions for the British.
