Since March a group of Pine Plains residents have met weekly with the intention of creating a digital newspaper to serve Pine Plains. The rustic “Mail Chimp” newsletter you are now reading is our first publication. Our plan is to launch our actual e-newspaper in January, 2023.
We will call it the “New Pine Plains Herald,” borrowing the name of a newspaper that began in Pine Plains in the 1850’s and, after merging with the Pine Plains Register, served our community under various owners until 2009.
We intend to create publication that is a resource for information about Pine Plains – current events, history, people, businesses, and our future.
The mission statement we have written will guide our efforts:
The mission of the New Pine Plains Herald is to serve as a reliable online source of local news and information that has been carefully researched and reported. We intend to highlight events and developments in our town, cut through misinformation, stimulate thinking and informed action, and encourage honest and civil discourse on community matters.
