Robert Charles Parsons of Ancram died on Aug. 19. He was 79.
Parsons was born on June 20, 1947, in Rhinebeck to Bradford and Margaret (Swartz) Parsons.
Parsons was a 1965 graduate of Roeliff Jansen School, where he was on the basketball and track teams. He later earned an associate degree in accounting from SUNY Delhi in 1967.
He worked for more than 40 years at Columbia Auto Parts in Hudson, and after retiring he worked for NAPA in Millerton.
Bob is survived by his companion of 35 years, Cindy Mackay; his children: Ryan Parsons, Hillary Parsons, Shane Parsons, John Mackay, and Jennifer Duffy; his five grandchildren, Kellan Duffy, Lucy Duffy, Connor Parsons, Madison Parsons and Robert Parsons; a sister, Ann Brunese; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A brother, David Parsons, died before him.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 3 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, County Route 7, Ancram. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:30 a.m. A celebration-of-life reception will follow the service at the Ancram Firehouse.
