In Stanfordville a number of small children were playing about a pile of planks in Mr. Ketcham’s mill yard when the pile fell upon two of them, children of Mrs. Bennett, killing the youngest, a bright little boy of about 3 yrs. His sister, next older, was seriously injured but suffered the breaking of no bones, though much bruised. The mother, who was in the house in which they lived, just across the railroad track, rushed to the rescue of the children and heroically struggled to free them from the great weight upon them, but the little boy was dead.
