General Knox and the Winter Trek to Boston

November 2, 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Roeliff Jansen Community Library will host local historian, author, and publisher Gary Leveille for a fascinating presentation, “General Knox and the Winter Trek to Boston.” In this talk, Leveille will recount one of the most remarkable feats of the American Revolutionary War. In late 1775, a 25-year-old Boston bookseller named Henry Knox proposed to General George Washington that he personally oversee the transport of 59 captured British cannons from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston—over 300 miles of rugged terrain, in the depths of winter. What transpires is a truly extraordinary story.
