March 5, 1892
Fire was discovered in the coal shed of A.M. Easton near the Newburgh, Dutchess & Connecticut station. Prompt action extinguished the fires. Investigation revealed arson. The wind was in a direction to blow the flame away from other buildings or the whole village might and probably would have been destroyed. Had two other barns burned, all the houses on Myrtle Ave. would doubtless have gone.
