
Joan Marie Cahill died on Dec. 14 at Northern Dutchess Hospital after a brief illness. She was 84.
Born on June 16, 1940, in Sharon, Conn., she was the daughter of Claude and Rebecca (Ferris) Burdick. She graduated from Pine Plains Central School in 1958. She worked for many years as a nursing assistant at Kent Nursing Home, in Kent, Conn.
She married Donald Cahill on May 28, 1960, in Clinton Corners. He survives her.
Cahill is also survived by three daughters: Donna Cahill, Doreen Cahill-Fowler, and Denise (Michael) Clair; five grandchildren: Donald (Rebecca) Cahill, Erin Fowler, David Kyle (Mariah) Fowler, Allyssa (Eddie) Scheuner, and Michael Clair II; and eight great-grandchildren: Donald, Saige, Luna, David, Quentin, Kaden, Remington, and Kingsley.
Visiting hours will be on Jan. 11 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 South Main St., with a celebration of her life to begin at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to a charity in Cahill’s honor.
