
Alan E. Hill died at his home in Pine Plains on Dec. 29. He was 61.
Affectionately known as “Goober,” Hill was born in Rhinebeck on Aug. 17, 1963, to George and Mary (Palmer) Hill of Pine Plains. In 1983, he graduated from Stissing Mountain High School and began his 40-plus-year career at Anderson Manufacturing in Millbrook as a machinist. Hill made the glass and brass case around the Vietnam War Memorial in Pine Plains, at the clock tower.
Hill is survived by five siblings: Nancy Douglass, Thomas (Donna) Hill, Mary Lou Hill, George H. Hill Jr., and Jane (John) Stapf, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In accord with his wishes, the family said there would be no service.
