Barry L. Haydasz of Stanfordville died on Oct. 10 at Northern Dutchess Hospital. He was 71. The cause of death was cancer.
Born in 1953 to Joseph and Gloria Haydasz, he grew up in Wappingers Falls and attended Roy C. Ketcham High School. He earned a bachelors degree in general studies at the State University of New York at Oneonta, and a second degree in computer sciences at Dutchess Community College.
Haydasz worked as a technician at Fairchild Semiconductor International’s facility in East Fishkill, then at IBM in Poughkeepsie. He went on to do web design for several businesses including dAMBest Carburetors, and finished his career at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Millbrook, where he served as an educator and trail guide, providing regular nature reports.
Haydasz served on the Town of Stanford Conservation Advisory Committee, and was an avid lepidopterist and a member of the Ralph T. Waterman Bird Club in Lagrangeville.
Haydasz is survived by his mother and by his sister, Catherine Bradley of New Mexico.

Barry was also known as “McGiver” when he sailed with me and other friends because he could fix anything onboard. I will cherish our many good times together, which started at Fairchild and continued until very recently. 😢
